About
Hi, my name is Alexander Tsvyashchenko1 and this is my personal website.
For an “official” information about myself see Resume page.
The views or opinions expressed here are solely my own and do not express the views or opinions of my past, current or future employers or clients, moreover - might often contradict them :-)
Also note this site is ~20 years old by now and my own views and opinions changed significantly during this time => the current ones might easily contradict the past ones.
The languages I speak are Russian, Ukrainian, English and German (in the decreasing order of proficiency) => I should be able to understand the correspondence in any of these, although don’t expect particularly eloquent responses in English and especially in German.
I was born in Kyiv, Ukraine but since 2011 I live and work in Switzerland, Greater Zurich Area.
My main interests and hobbies center around computers and everything related, but also include flying general aviation planes and hiking, skiing + biking (all of these at amateur levels and mostly sporadic).
“It depends”: transliteration and localization are hard. My official name is “Олександр Цвященко” which is clearly not representable in Latin alphabet. Even the official transliteration rules in Ukraine were changed several times, so in practice the most common first name variants are “Oleksandr” (the closest to Ukrainian official first name), “Alexander” (the international equivalent that I prefer to use to make things easier for others) and “Sasha” (a short name for “Alexander” in Slavic languages, derived as Alexander -> Alexsasha -> Sasha), while all the variants of my last name I’ve seen are too many to list here but just to give a sample: “Tsvyashchenko” (older official Ukrainian transliteration rules), “Tsviashchenko” (newer official Ukrainian transliteration rules), “Zwjaschtschenko” (German transliteration), “Cvjashhenko” (not sure which transliteration system that was), etc.
