Comment system test

Announcement Site development

The site has a comment system again, and this post exists to try it on the live site rather than on a local build.

Comments are closed on every older post — the newest of them is from 2019 and I do not expect a conversation there — so this is the only page on the site with a form. It carries no extra.comments, which is the point: new posts get a form by default and closing one is the explicit act.

Both paths are worth checking here: with JavaScript, where the browser fetches a challenge and solves a small proof of work before the form is submitted, and without it, where the form still posts and the comment simply goes to the queue. Either way nothing appears until I have read it.

This post and everything written under it will be deleted once I am satisfied the machinery works.

Test w/o JS.

Every comment is read before it appears, so this is not instant. A display name is all that is published and no address is required; anything you put in Private contact is stored apart from the comment and never appears on the page. The body is Markdown; links get nofollow and images are not rendered.
